She was born October 11, 1935 in Brady, TX, and was the daughter of the late Jewel and Hannah Hogan of Odessa, TX.
Ruthie is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Donald Flewell.
Shortly after graduating from the Scott and White School of Nursing, she married Mr. Flewell and moved around the world in support of his military career.
She found joy in the simplest of pleasures. She loved family gatherings, volunteering at church and The Lowman Home, working jigsaw puzzles with grandchildren, holiday cooking and festivities, companionship with cats, afternoon naps, and a peaceful evening with a bowl of ice cream and a Dr. Pepper.
A retired, lifelong registered nurse, her devotion to her patients’ well-being was evident as was the love and compassion she held for her family.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Reggie Boan of Irmo, SC; her son and daughter-in-law, Don and Jackie Flewell, of Cornelius, NC; her sister, Minnie Venable, of Amarillo, TX; her sister-in-law and brother- in-law, Joan and Walker Pennock, of Lynchburg, VA; her five grandchildren and their spouses, Whitney Boan, Kristen and Brett Stoia, Austin and Erisa Flewell, Lindsay Flewell, and Hannah Flewell, as well as countless cousins across the state of Texas.
