COLUMBIA - Henry Lee Hisaw, 88, passed from this life into heaven, surrounded by his loved ones, on April 10, 2021. Born January 12, 1933 in Louisville, MS, he was a son of the late Henry G. and Mozell Hisaw.
Always an outstanding student, he was a graduate of Bond High School in Louisville, MS and attended East Central Junior College in Decatur, MS, Georgia State College in Atlanta, GA, and earned his LLB degree from Woodrow Wilson College of Law in Atlanta, GA. From 1953 to 1956, he served his country in the United States Army. He began his banking career at C&S Bank in Atlanta, GA, in the Trust Department, worked for Southern Bank and later retired from BB&T.
Henry was active in Columbia First Baptist Church, serving many years as Director of the Special Ministries Department, and as a deacon and usher. For several years, he served as President of the Wynfield Gables Homeowners' Association.
In addition to his parents he is predeceased by five sisters and four brothers. Henry is survived by his loving wife, Ruth M. Hisaw; daughter, Janet H. Langley (Talley); grandson, Christopher Lucas Langley (Kayla), Kristen R. Langley (Matt); great-granddaughter, Averi L. Bischoffberger, and great-grandson, Camden Lucas Everts-Langley.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. Entombment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from Noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. All are invited to attend.
