Carolyn Lee Beining (Dew), age 75, of Upatoi, Georgia passed away on Monday, June 18, 2018. The family will welcome guests for visitation, Tuesday, June 19, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00PM in The Mill Room of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907. A celebration of Carolyn’s life will occur Wednesday, June 20, 2018 from 11:30AM to 12:30PM, at Striffler-Hamby.
Carolyn was born in a log cabin on December 7, 1942 in Calvin, Kentucky to Virginia Lee and George Lee. The log cabin was built by hand by her coal-miner father and homemaker mother in the woods of Kentucky coal country. Carolyn was the third of six children and a strong, self-sufficient young woman. Carolyn lived remarkably interesting life: from school-crossing guard to local business owner to successful real estate entrepreneur, Carolyn rose above her humble beginnings to show admirable strength and determination. She was kind and generous, helping her immediate and extended family to the end. Known as “Honey Dew” or “Nana” to her grandchildren, Carolyn loved gathering her family for meals and laughter.
Carolyn Lee Beining was preceded in death by: her loving parents; husbands: David Joseph Beining and James Earl Dew; and brother Donald Lee. She is survived by sons Charles Wesley Dew, James Dewayne Dew and Shannon Dion Dew; daughter: Jennifer Carolyn Beining; sisters: Loretta Lee Brown, Judy Lee Dickensheets; brothers: Robert Roscoe Lee, Charles Edward Lee; 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
