Clifford Plummer Black, Sr., of Marietta, Georgia, passed away April 16, 2018. Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 21, 2018, at 11 AM with Striffler-Hamby Mortuary at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road Columbus, Georgia, with Father Joey Buencamino of St. Anne’s Catholic Church officiating.
Clifford Plummer Black, Sr. was born December 7, 1925, to the late Jessie and Ella Black in Commerce, Georgia. Clifford found a calling to serve his country where he served with the US Army. The WWII and Korean War veteran was a Bronze Star-V decorated war hero. When his fighting days were over, Clifford found a new home in the banking world where he would later retire from the former Trust Company Bank of Columbus. Aside from his career, Clifford was a family man who will forever be remembered as a caring husband to his late wife Catherine M. Black, a wonderful father, loving grandfather, and dear friend to many.
Alongside his parents and loving wife, Mr. Black is preceded in death by: a son, Kenneth Black; a daughter, Renate M. Black; and a granddaughter, Erika M. Binns.
He is lovingly survived by: a daughter, Elaine Susan (Michael) Binns of Marietta, Georgia; sons, Clifford P. (Diane Terwilliger) Black, Jr. of Anniston, Alabama and Alan S. Black of Farmington, Maine; a grandson, Jason S. (Kay) Black of Bakersfield, California; granddaughters, Katherine R. Binns of Sandy Springs, Georgia and Stephanie B. (Matthew) Smith of Virginia Beach, Virginia; great granddaughters, Anderson and Marin Smith of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Kayla M. Black of Bakersfield, California; and a brother, Curtis (Elizabeth) Black of Griffin, Georgia.
