
James R. Gilchrist passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Ohio Veterans Home. He was born October 1, 1927 in Columbus to Cappie & Arabella Gilchrist. He was a veteran of US Navy, then US Air Force from which he retired as MSGT. He served in WWII, Korean, and Vietnam Wars. Received Bachelor Degree from Southern Illinois University in Education. He retired from Jones, Day, Reavis, & Pogue and worked at AEP. Former member of Traditional Choir at St. Dominic Church. Loved to play golf, poker with buddies, go fishing, and bingo. Preceded in death by loving wife, Pilar; parents Cappie & Arabella Gilchrist; brothers, Dennis, Marvin, Avery, Cappie, and Gene; sisters Lilabelle, Norma, Winifred, and Hope. He is survived by adopted brother Billy; son James Gilchrist-Elliot; special nephew and niece, John Pannell & Jo Alexander. Many cousins, nieces, nephews, and good friends. Celebration of life will be held from 11:00AM-12:00PM, Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 453 N. 20th Street, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00PM. Fr.
