

Melba Mae (née Knapp) Lanning Hawkins, age 83 of Grove City, went Home to be with Jesus, peacefully on Tuesday, August 4, 2020. Melba was born in Chillicothe to the late Earl Roscoe and Pauline Erentha Knapp and graduated from Grove City High School as a member of the Class of 1955. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Grove City, which her Father built. Melba was also a member of Ladies VFW Auxiliary Post in South Bloomfield. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching game shows, shopping at thrift stores and was always ready to travel. She will be remembered for being a Sweet Mom, an Awesome Grandma Mom, and the Most Incredible Mom-Mom. We will never forget her amazing love for us, or her fantastic independent streak. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, whether at home or during a fun road trip. IN addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers and sisters; and her granddaughter Jeannetta Mae Phillips. Melba is survived by her daughters Bertie (Darrell) Perry and Pamela Montgomery; grandchildren Tabatha (Troy) Tomlinson and children Grace, Noah, and Elijah; Traci and her son Jude; Michelle (Marc) Thum and children Levi, Lexi, Zach, Kyle, Cory, and Jessica; Robert (Kylie) Montgomery and children Christian, Savannah, Blake, Brock, Brielynn, and Berklie; Tamica (Darrell) Webb and children Rebecca, Trinity, and Heather; Clint Montgomery and daughter Chloe. Melba's family will receive friends 4-7 PM Monday at Schoedinger Grove City 3920 Broadway. Guests are respectfully asked to wear masks to ensure safety for everyone attending. Due to the COVID -19 pandemic, a private Funeral Service will be held to honor Melba's life. Contributions may be made in Melba's memory to the Kidney Foundation.
