Myrna Smith Dupler

Her father was a respected architect who was involved with designing the Horseshoe and other buildings at The Ohio State University as well as downtown buildings.

Her siblings were Marjorie S. Packard, R. Jackson Smith, Sybil DeGroot, Howard D. Smith, Jr., Priscilla S. D'Angelo and Jane Ritter. As children, they attended Camp Bud in the summer.

Myrna was a 1940 graduate of Upper Arlington H.S. where she met her sweetheart, Dale "Dan" Dupler; she was a cheerleader and he a football player. They were married in 1944. They lived in the house that they built on Redding Rd. from 1950-2004 when they moved into Westminster Thurber. She attended Stephens College in Columbia, MO and completed her graduate work at The Ohio State University. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. Myrna taught 7th and 8th grade English at Perry Middle School in Worthington for over 20 years.

She was very active at Covenant Presbyterian Church. She was a very loving and involved grandmother, mother and wife. She enjoyed her Friday Friends teacher's group and book club. Myrna was an excellent calligrapher. She loved to be out in nature hiking and camping. She was also an avid swimmer.

Preceded in death by her son, Dan M. Dupler. Myrna will be missed by her loving husband of 70 years, Dale "Dan" Dupler; daughter, Kathie (Reed) Roig; grandchildren, Kate Mead, Tony (Anastasia) Dupler, Jamie (Tiffany) Dupler, Laine Dupler and Ben Roig; great grandchildren, Thomas, Andrew and Ella and nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2 p. m. Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2070 Ridgecliff Rd., Columbus, Rev. Dr. Tracy R. Keenan, officiating. A reception will be held at the church following the service.
