Ella was born January 27, 1945, in Trinity, TX to John Wesley Clayton and Annis Christian Clayton. On December 11, 1965, she married the love of her life, Harlen Neagle and at the very young age of 20, became a loving mother to his 3 young daughters. In November 1969 they welcomed their son, John.
Ella’s passions included a love of gardening, oil painting, and her four fur babies. She also loved the many years spent at their ranch in Coldspring, TX, raising cutting horses and watching her husband and son compete in rodeo cuttings. Prior to moving to the ranch, she and Harlen enjoyed showing street rods and spending time with their street rodding family. Ella also served as President of Abel Motors, Inc and Abel Finance Co until her retirement a few years ago.
Ella had a beautiful, giving, servant heart. She gave of herself by serving for 2 years as Chairwoman of the Staff Parish Relations Committee of Coldspring United Methodist Church in Coldspring, TX. She also volunteered at the church food pantry.
Ella is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Harlen of Montgomery, TX , son, John (Wendy) of Montgomery, TX , daughters Kathy (Jordan) Smith of Spring, TX , Kay Neagle of Montgomery, TX and Karen Jernigan of Grapevine, Tx. Grandchildren Brandon Fowler and wife Katie, Amanda Jernigan and husband Josman Alvares, Brooke Morales, Ashlee Adams and husband Brandon, Justin Smith and wife Tracie, Chelsea Carr and husband Carey, Rendi Smith, Lacey Beer and husband Jeremy, Shelby Acuff and husband Dustin, and Tanner Neagle , and 15 great grandchildren. Sisters Ruth Cook, Louise Moake and Winnie Taylor, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ella was loved by so many and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her …. May the work I have done speak for me.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 16, 2022 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at Cashner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 17, 2022, at 10:00am, in Cashner Colonial Chapel.
