As a beloved family man of strong Christian faith, John Carroll Hering, age 60, of Coppell, Texas, suddenly passed on Saturday, October 20, 2018. John was born January 19, 1958 in El Paso, TX as the first sibling of five children. He graduated from Coronado High School in Lubbock, TX and was an accomplished scholar receiving four degrees including a Bachelor’s Degree, Applied Music (Trombone) 1980 and a Bachelor’s Degree, Music Education 1980, both from Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas. His graduate degrees included a Master’s Degree, Music Education 1982 from the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyoming and a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) Business Computer Information Systems (BCIS) 1996 from the University of North Texas. Hering began his early career as a music educator by teaching at Amarillo Junior High, Amarillo, Texas from 1982 through1989. He then assumed responsibilities as the Band Director for Mart Middle School and High School in Mart, Texas from 1989 through 1995. While in Mart, he also served as the Music Director for First United Methodist Church during the same period. After securing his MBA, John transitioned into the technology field and held various software development and project management roles leading to his position as Project Manager at RiverRock Systems in Dallas, Texas. More about his career may be found at https://www.linkedin.com/in/johnchering/ John’s foremost passion was his spending quality time with his cherished wife Patience and two beloved children, Priscilla and Jacob. He relished running and completed many half marathons and a full marathon. Baseball, NFL/College Football (a long-time Dallas Cowboys fan) and Fantasy Football were his passion sports – even serving 25 years as the co-founder and commissioner for the Mart Fantasy Football League. His other interests included cycling, photography, travel, classical music and reading classic and current science fiction. John was an avid handyman around the home and the best “technology support service” a family could ever wish for. His community involvement included serving as Coach, Commissioner and board member during a seven-year tenure at the Coppell Baseball Association. Preceded in death by: Barbara Ann Hering and Carroll Henry Hering (parents), Fern Dakin and Arthur Dakin (mother’s parents), Henry John Hering and Amerina Caroline (Carrie) Hering (father’s parents). Survived by: Spouse: Patience Branscomb Hering, Daughter: Priscilla Barnes Carr and her husband Joshua Carr, Son: John Jacob Hering, Stepmother: Margaret Ann Hering, Brother: David Allen Hering, Brother: James Arthur Hering and his wife Marcy, Sister: Ann Dominique Shu and husband Theo, Sister: Nancy Kay Whitworth and husband Jason, Brother: Mark Wayne Hering and wife Kay, Brother: Leonard Haley, And numerous nieces and nephews.
