It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Shawna Marie Cardillo (nee Diggins) our loving and devoted wife and mother; daughter, sister, and friend to all whose lives she touched, on May 17, 2020.

Shawna was born on November 5, 1965 in St. Louis, Missouri. She lived most of her life in the Dallas area. Shawna attended Ursuline Academy in Dallas where she enjoyed being a cheerleader and was honored as Homecoming Queen. She received her bachelor’s degree from Spring Hill College in Mobile, AL where she was a cheerleader and an active member of her sorority, Delta Delta Delta. Shawna worked for Delta Airlines for 12 years based in Chicago and enjoyed the adventure that came with being a flight attendant. She lived in Coppell, TX for the last 23 years.

Shawna had a passion for health and fitness. She enjoyed staying active, especially through running, biking, and tennis, a sport that brought out her competitive side. Shawna had a flair for fashion and a natural eye for photography. She enjoyed gardening and had a special touch for growing the most beautiful flowers. Most of all, she loved her family and instilled in her son strong values and compassion. Shawna was known for her kind heart, helpful and caring nature, captivating laugh, and beautiful smile. She will be clearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Shawna is survived by her loving husband of 24 years Rick Cardillo; her beloved son Joey; her parents, John and Patricia Diggins; her two brothers and their wives, Johnny and Catherine Diggins, and Brendan and Melissa Diggins. SHAWNA, was a spiritual sister of mine. We talked a lot in the last few years. I will always remember our long conversations while she drove going back and forth to drop Joey at school and pick him back up. We talked about everything and nothing, My last conversation was the most memorable, She told me how much she enjoyed the last two months being with Joey and Rick. She went on and on about the dinners Rick cooked or brought home, The shows they had watched and the walks taken,. She loved her family time, She told me it was the Best Mothers Day. Her Mom came and Dad and Rick made the best food. She left me a message on Saturday the was so kind, sweet, loving and thoughtful. That is the SHAWNA I will carry In my heart and always remember. WITH LOVE GOD BLESS

Dear Diggins Family,

Throughout my life I have always been a big fan of the Diggins family. I love every time they come to visit. They are always kind, sweet and helpful. Shawna was all of those things but better. She always had a kind heart. She was always very nice to everyone. Shawna had a welcoming smile that will always be remembered by people that have known her - especially me. I will miss Shawna when we have our family gatherings with the Diggins.

The Diggins family, you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

This girl could make my first born belly laugh like no other. She held him and did this cute little thing that made him laugh like I had never seen before! I loved her wit and especially her sass! She was someone I called my hero. I’m glad I told her that. She was so easy to love, so incredibly humble and SO fun to laugh with. Her love and devotion to Rick and Joey inspired me. You knew they were her life, her pride and joy and she loved them so, so much. I didn’t know her nieces and nephews but every time i saw her she mentioned her love for each of them. She was the kind of girl you said man, if I could be as cool as her I’d be something! I’ll always miss her. Rest In Peace, Shawna. I love you.
