Opal Fooshee

Opal Fooshee Graveside service for Opal McCell South Fooshee, 94, is set for 1:00 pm Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Henry Cemetery with Lennis Norwell officiating. Opal departed this life on May 5, 2022. She was born June 14, 1927 in Pickwick, TN to the late James and Mae Culver South. She graduated high school in 1947 at Shiloh, TN. Opal married David Speck Fooshee on March 19, 1948 and celebrated 63 years together until his death on February 11, 2011. Opal was a faithful member of Northside Church of Christ. She was a homemaker for majority of her life, devoted to taking care of her husband and son. She enjoyed working in her yard and traveling to Florida and Gatlinburg with her family. At family gatherings, she will be fondly remembered for her delicious chocolate cakes. She is preceded in death by her husband; son, Edwin “Eddie” Fooshee; an infant daughter; parents; siblings, James, Hurley, Hurbert, Ruby Johnson, Evelyn Glover, Anna Lee Greer and Wilma Fae Adams. She is survived by her caregiver of eleven years, Margaret Greer-King; and several nieces and nephews.
