Darrel DeWayne Hofman, age 77, Norwalk CA.

Darrel was born on August 20, 1941, in Manhattan, Kansas to Ernest & Etta Hofman. He grew up on a large Wheat Farm … the youngest of 7 siblings. After graduating from Manhattan High in 1959.. he enlisted in the United States Air Force and became a Jet Engine Mechanic. He served for 4 years .. based in Oklahoma and Missouri then traveling to Europe and Japan.

As a civilian ..he worked for Douglas Aircraft, Max Factor and Merle Norman as a mechanical engineer.. retiring in 2013. Darrel met the love of his life, Nancy Smith, at the age of 24. They married and together they raised a beautiful family of three, William, Julie & Michele. Darrel’s focus was family .. they planned lots of camping trips and early visits to Disneyland. Darrel was a “Cowboy at heart” and brought the family to Rodeos for family fun. The family also took part in numerous Dog Show Competitions for 35 years, winning countless trophies together while being named the top American Eskimo breeders in the country. A lifetime member of the American Legion, Darrel also contributed to the “Wounded Warrior Project”, generously maintaining his patriotism throughout his life.

Darrel is survived by his two daughters, Julie and Michele and six grandchildren, Melanie, Josh, Melissa, Kelly, Jeremiah and Taylor and 10 great grandchildren.

The family would like to give a Special Thank you to Dr. Usama Mitry for his exceptional care and kindness given our father. Additionally, Thank you to PIH Health for your outstanding work in health Care.

In Lieu of flowers, Our Dad would ask to give donations to the American Cancer Society or the American Eskimo Rescue. Thank you!

Darrel is now at Heavens gate ! where his loving wife Nancy is there to join with him again, May God hold them dear and close to each other as in there life here on earth.
