Duane Seeley, Corona del Mar, was born Jan. 21, 1943 in Portland, Oregon. He grew up in the St. Johns neighborhood in Portland and graduated from Roosevelt High School. He was drafted while he was attending college and served two years in the Army surviving one year in Qui (Quy) Nhon, during TET. He graduated from Portland State University, earned his law degree from Lewis & Clark Law School and his Master's in Taxation from Golden Gate University. His legal career in Oregon, the Bay Area and southern California included a tax law practice and positions with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and State Compensation Insurance Fund. He met his wife, Marsha, at a bus stop in Berkeley and they were married in Illinois in 1983. Their good times together increased immeasurably when their daughter, Lindsay, was born. She was the light of his life. Nurtured by Marsha’s love and good cooking, the family of three became an inseparable unit. Duane’s happiest times were spent with Lindsay, watching her soccer games, judging pool stunts, shopping at surf shops, eating at Husky Boy and Rose’s, watching waves at Big Corona, playing Frisbee, catch and basketball. One of his proudest accomplishments was planning, almost single-handedly, her wedding. Duane had a sharp intellect, a wry and colorful sense of humor, and an insightful way of looking at the world and solving problems. He was a good Jeopardy player, a skillful negotiator, an avid newspaper reader, a pickup truck driver and a thoroughly genuine and good person. He will be greatly missed by his wife Marsha, daughter Lindsay Hart and her husband Bobby (“Rebob”), of Fresno, his brother James Seeley and sister-in-law Becky, of Portland, his brother-in-law Richard Cox of Diablo, CA, five nieces and nephews, five (soon to be six) great-nieces and nephews and many friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America (pva.org) or Second Harvest Food Bank (feedoc.org). You may contact the family at MDLSeeley@sbcglobal.net
