He was a member of the Supreme Council of the House of Jacob in the Bethlehem Township, Ohio congregation. He was born on September 14, 1953 in Winchester, Virginia to the late Mr. Clyde Edward Williams and Mrs. Yvonne Constance (Kirk) Williams. He was the third eldest child out of 7 formed from this union.
Brother Kervin attended school at John Handley High school in Winchester, Virginia and Randolph Macon Academy in Front Royal, Virginia between 1968-1974. He was the first African American to graduate from the Randolph Macon Academy. He attended Ferrum Junior College where he participated in college football as a national champion before sustaining an injury. At this time, he became increasingly interested in his spiritual life from seeing the light in some of his close friends and family in his hometown. He decided to make a change in his spiritual life and follow the light, and cast his lot with the Supreme Council of the House of Jacob on September 14, 1976. Brother Kervin became quickly involved in church activities, even moving to the church headquarters to assist at the Jacob’s Dwelling Nursing Home and Bishop’s quarters.
He joined the United States Armed Forces-Navy Branch and served honorably from June 1977-June 1981. He moved back to Coshocton, Ohio in January 1991 with his family to continue a work at the church headquarters and raise his children in a place of serenity which he proudly spoke of often.
Brother Kervin was a hard worker from his youth. He was well known and loved by many in the community and never met a stranger. He enjoyed meeting people, talking to everyone, reading books, and helping others with advice and other means including offering jobs to many through his recycling business. He enjoyed listening to his massive music collection and reading from his library while sitting on his porch and greeting others as they drove by. He enjoyed and wanted to continue living his life in Coshocton. He won several and recently won an award for his beautiful flower garden around his home. He loved all his children and grandchildren, siblings, extended family, and close friends. His presence will be missed by all.
Brother Kervin is survived by his children: Mr. Kevin Philip (Stephanie) Long of Winchester, Virginia, Elderess Sibyl Elisabeth (Elder Christopher) Roberson of Texarkana, Arkansas, Sister Judith Yvonne (Alejandro) Williams-Guzman of Whitehall, Ohio, and Brother Solomon Andrew Williams of Columbus, Ohio; Siblings: Mrs. Jacqueline (Lonnie) Sims of Purcellville, Virginia, Mr. Clyde “Buddy” Williams of Winchester, Virginia, Mr. Alan Williams of Norfolk, Virginia, Mrs. Roxanne (Glen) Williams Mason of Winchester, Virginia, Mrs. Robin (Kevin) Williams Lowry of Winchester, Virginia, and Mr. Bryce Williams of Winchester, Virginia, 8 grandchildren +1, 2 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
