Gary Donald Rolston
September 2, 1956 – April 24, 2015
Gary Donald Rolston Born September 2nd, 1956 Oliver, BC Passed away April 24th, 2015 Gary was the third of twelve children born to Therese and Dave Rolston of Summerland, BC. He was raised as a farm boy through and through and continued his passion for agriculture into his professional life. In 1986 he moved to the Comox Valley with his first wife Deb, and their children Erik, Abby and Jodi who made themselves at home immediately. He worked tirelessly on his own career, as well as volunteering for numerous boards and committees advocating for local agriculture. He was always known to bring a smile and a bad sense of humor wherever he went and made certain that those around him also had something to laugh at. In September of 2013, Gary married his childhood crush Joan who brought out a happiness in him that had never been seen before. With that happiness he fought one hell of a fight against cancer and will be forever remembered by all that loved, worked, and played with him. Gary was predeceased by his marvelous mother Therese and brother Steven. He sadly leaves behind his wife Joan, children Erik, Abby, Jodi (Tyler) and grandbuddy Edgar, his fantastic father, Dave, and siblings, Grant (Lauralee), Rick (Marcie), Barb (Doug), Judy (Chris), Terry (Colleen), Rob (Cheryl), Kevin, Ryan (Jen), Ken (Karen), Andrew (Korrie), as well as many nieces and nephews, and honorary brothers: Hugh (Chris), Bruce (Lori), all the floor hockey guys, work colleagues and friends along the way. A celebration of life will be held at the Native Sons Hall on May 9th from 1pm to 4pm and the family requests that donations be made to the Young Agrarians in lieu of flowers.

Today I was thinking of Gary and was saddened to learn that he had died on September 24th. I was a colleague of Gary when he worked for the BC Ministry of Agriculture. Also, I would converse with Gary when he was a consultant on Vancouver Island. Gary was a fine fellow who had the ability to think outside the box. He will be missed

I am very sorry to hear of Gary's death. I had the pleasure of working with him as a colleague in the Ministry of Agriculture and will remember his infectious laughter, his 'killer' sense of humor and his passion for agriculture. He was a great guy.

I was so shocked and saddened to hear about Gary's passing. Too soon....too young. But I still have great memories of a great guy.

I first met Gary on the Community Futures board and became friends and colleagues quickly thereafter. He was an outstanding guy and he'll be missed by all the people who have known him and cherished his friendship.
