Elizabeth Jons

On the evening of May 14th our precious mom, Elizabeth, completed her earthly journey and is now singing and dancing with our Lord and her loved ones who have gone before her.

Elizabeth was born on April 6th, 1927, the first of five children born to Henry and Alice (Wren) Taylor. She was born in a little white house at the lower end of the Reader ranch about four miles north of Savery. Following her birth came Catherine Ann, Margaret Mary, Evelyn Rose and Patrick Henry..

Elizabeth lived her entire life on Snake River until 2010 when she began residing at Sandrock Care Center in Craig, CO.

She attended the Savery School, graduating in 1945, one of a class of five girls. She attended the University of Wyoming in Laramie for two years, returning to Snake River to marry her life companion, Clayton Jons. They were married on June 15th, 1947 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Dixon, and were married for fifty-four years, until Clayton's death on January 4th, 2001. Two children were born to this union, Clayton LeRoy and Ellen Louise.

Elizabeth worked as a substitute school teacher for several years for the Snake River schools but her true calling in life was to be a devoted wife and helpmate to Clayton and special mother to LeRoy and Ellen.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, brother, and son-in-law, DuWayne Shorma. Survivors include LeRoy (Vicky) Jons and Ellen Shorma, grandchildren Christopher (Tracy) and Darrin (Christy) Jons, Heidi (Briggin) Palmer and Eric (Christin) Shorma, great-grandchildren Tessa and Callen Jons, Mathew and Bailey Jons and Benjamin and Hailey Palmer. She is also survived by sisters Catherine, Meg and Evelyn. brother-in law Charles Poole, sister-in-law, Donna Jons, and special friend Hazel.

On June 29th at 11:00 a.m. a Memorial service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Dixon, followed by interment at the Baggs cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations made be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

Thoughts and prayers of comfort to your family at this time! I enjoyed every minute of taking care of Elizabeth and all the other Jons while I was a nurse at the nursing home! Loved everyone of your family members. So glad I got the chance to meet such a neat family!
