Maxine M. Nichels

She is survived by her daughter, Connie (John) Martz; grandchildren, Kim (Mike) Colaiacovo, Kerry Roell and Angie (Mike) DiSabato; great grandchildren, Paige, Caelan, Jenna, Cierra, Michael, Austin, Cassidy, Savannah, Joey and Damon and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Preceded in death by her husband, Albert 'Oz' Nichels and sisters, Josephine Mattos, Alberta Hivnor, Edna Eppley, Alfreda Finley and Eileen Bishop.

Maxine was born August 21, 1928 in Harrison Township, Ohio to the late Harvey and Mattie Floyd and was graduate of Philo High School in Duncan Falls, Ohio. She retired as a secretary from Inland Steel with over 30 years of service. On December 8, 1956 she married the love of her life, Albert 'Oz' Nichels in Hammond, IN. Maxine and Oz were always willing to help others. They enjoyed camping, boating, gardening and the great outdoors. Maxine was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandma and great grandma and will truly be missed by all whose lives she touched.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 Cline Avenue Crown Point, IN) with Rev. Tim Powers officiating.

Interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Crown Point, IN.

Friends may meet with the family on Wednesday from 12:00 PM until time of service at the funeral home.
