Richard Michael Hupke

Richard Michael Hupke, age 66, of Griffith, IN passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2022. Richard was born September 22, 1955 to the late Edward and Annie (Swenson) Hupke in East Chicago, IN. He leaves behind his three daughters, Katie (Jerome) Kucharski, Christa Hupke, and Megan (TJ) Nichols; grandchildren, Penelope Nichols, Jaxon Kucharski, and Carter Hupke; former wife, Patricia Hupke; two sisters, Patty Kelley, and Susan Gadberry; along with several cousins and close friends. Richard's family will forever remember his hobbies. He liked to watch movies, spend time hiking and horseback riding in Wyoming, and quality time with friends and family. He enjoyed hosting cookouts and bonfires, telling all kinds of Dad Jokes, and working on cars. He never hesitated to go out of his way for friends and family with their home projects, painting cars, and motorcycles. His daughters will always love looking back at their family mini-golf days, roses every Valentine's Day, and water balloon fights in his backyard with his grandchildren. He always made sure they had what they needed for an incredible summer day. A Memorial Visitation for Richard will be held Friday, May 20, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307. Memorial Service will begin at 1:00 PM, with Deacon Duan Dedelow officiating, and a Burial of Cremated Remains will occur following the Funeral Service in the Garden of Christus at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
