Rita D'arcy (nee Poplawski)

Rita Arlene D’arcy (nee Poplawski), age 63, of Valparaiso, IN entered eternal life on June 19,2018. Rita was born September 26, 1954 in Hammond, IN the daughter of Anthony and Gladys (nee Tomera) Poplawski.

Rita was a loving daughter, life partner, mother, and sister. She was a beloved aunt, cousin and friend. For 30 years Rita worked as a bookkeeper downtown Chicago for 28 years at Rothschild, Barry, & Myers, LLP. She was a member of the American Business Women’s Association, the Red Hat Society, and a parishioner at St. Joseph Parish in Dyer, IN.

Rita had an entrepreneurial spirit and sold Longaberger Baskets, Tastefully Simple, and was a co-owner of White Oak Accessories with her daughter Brooke. She enjoyed cooking, and travelling, but most of all spending time with her family and friends.

She is loved and missed by her life partner, Peter Bryczek; children, Brooke (Michael) Tarrant and Christopher (Erica) Bryczek; grandchildren, Christian Jarosak, Alexa Bryczek, and Parker and Phoenix Tarrant; sisters Sharon (Bud) Truax and Sandi Poplawski; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and great nieces and nephews.

Rita is preceded by her parents Anthony and Gladys Poplawski; uncles, Joseph Tomera and Francis “Buff” Tomera; aunts, Bernie Banasiak and Lottie Kovack; and a cousin, Pat Pokrzywa.

A mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 am on Monday, June 25, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 Joliet St. Dyer, IN 46311 with Fr. Ted J. Mauch officiating.

Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday June 24, 2018 at CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME AND MEMORIAL GARDENS, 8178 Clline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph Church, 440 Joliet St. Dyer, IN 46311.
