He loved flying single engine plane, downhill skiing, tinkering/repairing things and scuba diving. He enjoyed water skiing, traveling and loved dogs and Sudoku. Late in life he became an avid reader (historical accounts, survival stories and aviation).
Turner survived pancreatic cancer in 2000 and shortly afterwards he retired. He was in a plane crash in the 70’s where he broke his back and suffered from debilitating back pain all his life. Later had surgery to insert rods in his spine, which did not help. He had melanoma three times, was living with liver cancer, and at time of passing had cancer in his liver, lungs, lymph nodes and multiples myeloma.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter Susan; two sisters Naomi and Ruth; two grandchildren Angela and Holden.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Brenda Farmer; brother Guilford; sister Linda; five children Victoria, John, Christine, Tara and Doug; nine grandchildren Rick, Ryan, Haylie, Hayden, Harlow, Haliah, Ana, Zoee and Ali; four great grandchildren E.V., Addy, Jaxon, Oliver and a host of other relatives and friends. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.
A visitation for Turner will be held Tuesday, August 3, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, Indiana 46307. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home.
He will be laid to rest at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
