Barry graduated from Grand Junction High School and attended the University of Colorado at Boulder. He spent his career in the food service industry and won numerous awards including the highest award from the national restaurant association, the Silver Plate in 1983. He spent the majority of his career in hospital food service and was at the University of Texas Southwest Medical Center for over 20 years.
He was a devout catholic and entered the seminary directly out of high school and studied briefly to be a Franciscan monk. He volunteered for many years for the St. Vincent De Paul Society at the food bank and as a social worker. He loved his parish at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Dallas.
He was a passionate supporter of the arts. He loved movies, dancing and painting. He painted ceramics, oil paintings and took art classes throughout his retirement. His real love was musical theater and he knew every musical almost by heart. He volunteered for many years as an usher at various Dallas theaters.
Barry was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Bobby, Wesley and his sister Paula.
He is survived by his two children, Scott and Erin, his grandchildren, Collin, Riley and Natalie, niece Catherine and nephews, William and James.
