Devlon Denece Melton was born on October 9, 1969 to the parentage of John D. and Lillian Melton. She was educated in the Dallas Independent School District system and graduated from the Arts Magnet School in 1987. She joined the U.S. Army Reserve in 1987 and served her country for 3 years. During her time in the reserves, she attended Paul Quinn College in Dallas, Texas. When her Multiple Sclerosis illness slowed her down, she enrolled in El Centro College in Dallas, Texas to continue her education. She battled MS for over 30 years. Devlon was a sweet, kind, loyal, and loving person who loved life and people. She was a member of Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church since 1997. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her mother: Lillian Melton; Sisters: Gwendolyn Oquendo and husband Walter; Angela Johnson and husband Rodney; Dana Whitaker and husband John; Terry Thames; Tammy Thames and Debra Thames; Two brothers: Curtis J. Thames Jr, and John D. Melton Jr; eleven nieces and nephews; seven aunts and four uncles and a host of cousins and friends.
