Dolores Jane Teasley went to be with her Lord on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021, following a courageous four-year battle with illness.

Dolores was born March 4, 1943, in Overton, Texas. Dolores’ family moved to Laird Hill, Texas, near Kilgore, when she was quite young. She attended Leverett’s Chapel High School, excelling as a baton twirler in the marching band and later as drum major. She went on to perform with the world-famous Kilgore College Rangerettes drill team and the former Dallas Texans drill team.

She earned her Master’s degree in teaching and helped to develop teaching tools for dyslexic students, adopted by many public school districts and still being used today.

Dolores was a loving daughter to her parents, a faithful and loving wife to her husband, a wonderful mother to her children and the “apple” of her big brother Bill’s eye. Dolores was a very beautiful, caring and kind person -- always more concerned about family and friends than herself.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents W.L. and Edith Hankins, her son Jeff Gibson and her husband of 18 years, Eugene Teasley.

She is survived by her high school sweetheart Dan Kennedy, her son Kelly Gibson of Frisco, her granddaughters Taylor Gibson of Frisco and Haley (Gibson) Wilson of Edmund, Oklahoma, her brother Bill Hankins of Tom Bean, and nieces Holly Hankins of Dallas and Amy (Hankins) Hood of Orlando, Florida.

Visitation will be held from 5pm-7pm on Sunday, April 11, and funeral services will be held at 12pm on Monday, April 12, at Sparkman Hillcrest, 7405 W. Northwest Highway, in Dallas.

To Billy, Dan and Family

To know Dolores was to love her. I was so happy to visit with her at one of our high school reunions a number of years ago and found that her precious personality had not changed one bit. She was still the happy, beautiful friend in my Brother's class from Elementary to their Senior years that I remembered.

Her Sweet Spirit and smile will live on in our hearts forever. Billy, Dan and Family, you are in my prayers for your loss is heavy. Her Memory and your Love for her will always be only a breath away. May God's Comforting Spirit be with you always.

To Billy(Skillet), Kelly, and Dan: I was deeply saddened to hear of Dolores' passing recently. She was a dear friend and classmate from our Class of '61 at Leverett's Chapel High School. May God comfort you with his Holy Spirit and give you peace and strength during this time. I always enjoyed seeing her at Homecoming off and on through the years. God bless you all.

I attended LCHS with Delores and she was always smiling and kind to everyone. She was so short when she was drum major that they got her one of those tall hats to wear so band members could see her while marching! Never had an unkind word about
anyone. She will be missed. Prayers for Dan, Billy and her family.

Dolores was in my graduating class at Leverett's Chapel. I was also a member of the band so I have known Dolores most of my life. She was a very dear person who always had a smile and a kind word for everyone she knew. She will truly be missed.

Dolores was my instructor, mentor and friend. She helped put me on a path that would bring joy and fulfillment for all my subsequent years in the teaching profession. She always had a smile and was upbeat even in the most trying times. She will be forever missed, but never forgotten.
My condolences to all her family.
