June 26, 1936 – August 10, 2019
Our beloved mother, grandmother and friend Eugenia Martinez De Gloria was born into this world on June 26, 1936, in Patzcuaro, Michoacan, Mexico where she spent most of her youth. She eventually met and married Luis Gloria in 1960. Luis worked in the states while Eugenia cared for their small children. They communicated via written letters while Luis was working until they eventually decided to make the move to the states. They first moved to San Antonio, TX and shortly thereafter they settled to Dallas, TX. Luis worked constructing some of the largest highways in Dallas while Eugenia kept house for women around the city with whom she would become lifelong friend. From their hard work and dedications, they were able to send their children to Saint Mary of Carmel School and purchase their lifelong home in West Dallas, south of Downtown.
Eugenia was also a proud member of the Guadelupana’s, she volunteered regularly and loved supporting her community through her love of Christ. Along with her generous heart she always had a detailed eye for business, so she began to sell local beauty products. In the mid 80’s Eugenia decided to open a small store in her neighborhood where she sold beauty products, perfumes, sweets, and other items. She worked and maintained her store for over 20 years.
Eugenia was wise beyond her years, dedicated in everything she did, protective of the ones she loved and above all else she was strong beyond measure. There was nothing she set her mind to and did not accomplish from raising her eight children, to owning a business and becoming a proud US Citizen. She was the foundation of our family and she raised strong confident women who have shown the same dedication and commitment to their families.
Eugenia Gloria is survived by her husband of 59 years Luis Gloria, her seven daughters Josephine Toscano, Maria E. Dominguez, Martha Lopez, Frances Segura, Patricia Rodriguez, Juanita Martinez, Teresa Lopez and Luis Gloria Jr. Abuela to 27 grandkids, bis abuela to 46, bis bis abuela to 1. She will be missed deeply by many, but it is a comfort knowing she will be welcomed into Paradise with open arms and hearts.
