Irene Galvan of Dallas, Texas went to heaven on July 18, 2018. Due to the careful watch and compassionate care from Lifeway Hospice, her family was able to stand at her bedside and encourage her with love and words of comfort as she took her last breath.
Irene was born into a family of five girls in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where she graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School. Her move to Dallas, Texas opened doors to a professional life in accounting.
Irene was married for fifty-two years to Alonzo Galvan who loved and cherished their years together. They attended St. Patrick Catholic Church. After retiring, she joined Al at Oak Grove Optical and created a home in that small community of friends.
Irene is survived by her husband Al Galvan; her son Charles Sharp and his wife Benna; her daughter Phyllis Mabus and her husband Bill. Her four grandchildren Phillip Sharp, Scott Sharp, Jennifer Mabus, and Rick Mabus, and her seven great grandchildren will keep the legacy of love alive.
Our family is still amazed at the quality of care provided by Hospice. Julie and Caroline were the angels God provided as we took the unsure steps for a proper good-bye. People that care for Mother as they did give us all hope that we still have enough love in this world.
A service for Irene will be held at 1:00 PM, July 28, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 9643 Ferndale Rd., Dallas, TX, 75238. Reception in Parish Center to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research hospital in Memphis, TN.
