Kimbley was born on February 24, 1978, through the union of Brenda W. Looney and Clyde E. Looney. Also to this union were born two other daughters: oldest Lolita R. Looney and youngest Jackee D. Looney-McNeal. In her early childhood, Kimbley graduated from Carl Albert Senior High as one of the Valedictorians in 1996. She went on to receive her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from University of Texas at Dallas. Being a core value of our family, she continued her education receiving her Masters of Science in Counseling from Texas A&M Commerce.
Full of dreams Kim moved from Midwest City, OK to Dallas Texas in 1999. She began working for the state of Texas as an auditor. On March 10, 2012, Kim married the love of her life, Sam H. Walker II. From this martial union was born her life’s joy: her beautiful daughter Addison who is affectionately referred to as “Gracie”. Wanting to make a greater difference, Kim began her journey as an educator in 2007 teaching second grade students at Ruby Young Elementary in the Desoto Independent School District. In 2012, Kim became a school counselor at Frank D. Moates Elementary School in Desoto ISD. This assignment was completely aligned with her passion. Kim soared both professional and personally. She loved people and always found ways to help others or just bring a simple smile to their faces.
Kim loved the Lord! She accepted Christ at an early age and served in ministries at her local church. From a child, Kim understood that “only what you do for Christ will last”. Kim loved volunteering and served in long term volunteer positions in churches located in the DFW area. Kim joined Concord Church in early 2017 and fell in love with the Culinary Arts ministry. She was recently designated as one of the head cooks of this ministry where she took her position seriously and served faithfully; only missing a few Sundays preceding her death.
Kim was also an incredible artist. Many enjoyed her artistry and requested her services to create cakes commemorating various types of special celebrations. These celebrations included birthday parties, retirement parties and baby showers.
In October 2016, Kim was diagnosed with a rare aggressive neuroendocrine tumor. However, like a true Christian soldier, she faced each stage with the grace of God, relentlessly pursuing her call to serve her church and others. When her illness began to restrict her mobility, her will and faith in God remained very strong. This was evident in one of her last written messages where she wrote, “Heavenly Father, I know you keep me cradled in your arms. Free from harm, free from pain. I ask you to keep me in perfect harmony for all this will be over on Monday. Amen.”
Those who remain to cherish her memories:
Her husband, Sam, her daughter, Addison Grace; mother, Brenda; father, Clyde; two sisters, Lolita Looney, Jackee Looney-McNeal (Lee McNeal); ten nieces and nephews, and a host of extended family and friends. Kim was the type of person who never met a stranger.
