Leona Jean Fay
June 30, 1933 – July 29, 2020
Leona Jean Olen Fay, 87, of Dallas, Texas passed away Wednesday morning, July 29, 2020.
She was born in Queens, New York June 30, 1933 to Alexander Olen and Mary Korzenick Olen.
The family later moved to Kingston, New York where Leona graduated from Kingston High School and went to work for the New York Telephone Company. It was in Kingston that she met her husband Thomas Fay; they were married November 26, 1955. In 1971 the Fays moved to Dallas, Texas with their five children.
Leona was an active member of All Saints Catholic Church of North Dallas, her neighborhood association, and the S.M.U. community, serving as president of the Mothers Club in the 1980s. She enjoyed gardening, travel (especially to her beloved Nantucket Island), her giraffe figurines, and playing bunco with the girls. Leona is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas Fay; her brother, Bill Olen; and her daughter, Cindy Fay Bell. She is survived by her sister, Anna May Hoffman; sons Mike Fay; Pat Fay; Bill Fay and wife Rachida Fay; daughter Lauralee Fay Greaney and husband Jay Greaney; as well as grandchildren Peyton, Jackson, Ava and Nick Greaney; Thomas Fay; Jordan Bell; and son-in-law Mitch Bell.
A small family interment service will be held at the Prince of Peace of Resurrection Garden on August 18. A memorial will be planned for a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to The Notre Dame School of Dallas.
Leona was born on June 30, 1933 in New York City, New York, a daughter of her father: Alexander Olen and her mother: Mary Korzenick Olen.
Cremation Rites will be accorded.
