She was born on November 24, 1927 in Huntington Park, California to John Ruskin and Lorena Callan. Mary was raised in Oak Cliff, Dallas, Texas and graduated from Our Lady of Good Counsel in 1943. She married Wm. "Jack" Locklier in 1945 and the couple had three children. She was a Professional Model at Joan Frank Modeling Agency, where she worked for over 12 years.
In her spare time, she enjoyed fashion, travel, music, shopping, and parties with family and friends. Anyone that knew her knows that she was seriously obsessed about her hair, makeup, and clothes. After the death of her husband Jack, Mary married Robert Hostler. Mary and Bob traveled the globe constantly. They took numerous trips to Europe, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, and the Caribbean. They enjoyed the Dallas music scene, especially Sammons Jazz.
Her family and friends will always remember her as someone who was constantly on the go, with weekly beauty shop appointments that could not be missed, constant shopping (we're talking on a professional level!), and always talking on the phone.
After modeling, Mary began working with Jack in Tippy's Taco House. She helped in the restaurant and the franchise office. Jack and Mary, Bill and Betty Bennett started the restaurants in 1957. In the 60s, they started franchising all over the United States. Betty and Mary would make trips to Mexico to purchase authentic curios to decorate the stores. When Jack passed away, Mary continued to run the franchises util 2021, when Bill took the reins to continue the family legacy and Mary enjoyed her retirement. Rest in Peace.
