Patrick grew up in Gainesville, Texas. As a little boy, he wanted to bring his maw-maw and paw-paw’s “baby Jesus” into the house from their nativity scene so he wouldn’t get cold. His youth activities centered around scouting in Boy Scout Troop 650 of Whaley Methodist Church. He graduated from Denton High School in 1988 and immediately joined the U. S. Marine Corps for a four-year enlistment that took him to the Middle East and Asia. He personally lived the Marine motto, “Semper Fi!”
On February 11, 1995 , he married Jennifer Agee at Valley View Methodist Church.
From the Marines, Patrick embarked on a career involving aviation mechanics. At he time of his death, he was a Maintenance Lead for the prestigious Lockheed Martin “Skunk Works.” That program supported classified contracts for the United States government.
Pat’s “God” was the “god of the outdoors.” From his years of scouting through adulthood, he loved fishing, hunting, boating, camping, and hiking. As a teenager, one of his most memorable hikes was with his dad to the South Rim of Big Bend. As a father, he taught his children a love of the outdoors wherever they went from North Texas, to New Mexico, to Nevada, to Central Texas, to the Pacific Coast of California.
Patrick was the consummate family man. He was beloved as a son, grand-son, husband, father, and grand-father. He is survived by his devoted wife, Jennifer and youngest son, Sean, of Lompoc, California; oldest son, Garrett and wife, Jamie Melugin and grandson Elliot of Lake Jackson, Texas; daughter Cara Melugin of Austin, Texas; father and step-mother Ron and Claudia Melugin of Gainesville; half-brother and half-sister: Joe Melugin and wife, Sara, of Houston and Rebecca Kelley and husband, Matt, of Farmers Branch; half-brothers, Tim and Jake McCormick of Denton; Aunt Elaine Gurley of Waco; Uncle Ernest Williams of Dallas; mother-in-law Deborah Agee and nephew Ellis Agee of Pleasanton, Texas; father-in-law Mike Agee and wife, Lanelle, of Odessa; sister-in-law Renee and husband Henio Wolezynski and nephew and nieces: Hawkeye, Penelope, and Sidney of Bandera, Texas; nephew Elijah Hernandez of San Antonio.
