Peggy Marlene Heid

October 16, 1943August 10, 2019

Peggy Marlene Heid, 75, long time resident of Dallas, Texas, passed away early in the morning on August 10th, 2019. She was born on October 16th, 1943, in Amarillo, Texas. She is proceeded in death by her parents Marlin and Clara Flowers. Peggy is survived by her spouse, Ira Heid; daughter, Dedra Gray and her husband Nasser; son, Kevin Gray and his wife Karen; son, Kyle Gray; brother, Marlin Flowers Jr., six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, one step-great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, and many other family and friends whom she loved dearly.

Not long after she was born her family relocated to Wichita Falls where she grew up and graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1961. Shortly after graduating, she married Joe Gray and started a family in the Dallas area making North Texas her home. Over the years, she volunteered as a candy striper at Richardson Medical Hospital and Hopes Door, where she brightened the halls with her warmth, compassion and beautiful smile. She also worked as a travel agent where her joy for travel flourished. Ultimately, Peggy dedicated over 25 years of her career working in the title industry for residential real estate in marketing and business development. She married Ira in 2001. Together they spent many years making memories, spending time with family, and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys.

Peggy loved holidays and family get-togethers and any chance to spend with her family was important to her. She was very proud of her family and her role as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren will remember her as “Mimi” and will embrace all the beautiful memories and lessons she passed on to each one of them. She was also a committed friend who saw the good in everyone she met. She loved fearlessly and wholeheartedly.

She was a devoted, loving and exceptional woman who was always impeccably dressed and never left home without her makeup, especially her lipstick. She left her mark on everything she touched. Peggy was kind in her thoughts, words and deeds, making all who entered her life feel welcomed and loved. She had a passion for entertaining and would spend hours decorating, cooking, and preparing for her guests. In addition to her perfectly-planned parties, she also enjoyed reading, and loved her time spent in the sun and on the dance floor. Peggy was an expert on etiquette and radiated poise and grace in everything that she did.

Oh sweet Peggy. So many memories with my cousin. Time spent in our back yard in hammock, going on dates with her and Mark. Peggy was so loving, so warm. She was such a dear dear cousin. She was beautiful, chic and so caring. She loved her family fiercely and always there for them. She will be dearly missed. I love u so so much. I am heartbroken.

After knowing Peggy for over 30 years, I can honestly say I never knew anyone who was a more loyal friend. We might have periods of time that we didn't see each other, but when we did get together our friendship was as strong as ever. Peggy loved life. She could light up a room the moment she walked in the door, and even though she is gone that light will forever remain in my heart.

Peggy was the hostess with the mostess, a consummate entertainer and someone we all looked up too. She knew how to make a moment a celebration, and made our all gatherings and holidays special. I think we will all be forever touched by having had Peggy as a friend and business associate. Our thoughts and prayers are with Peggy's family as their mourn this tremendous loss. I hope they are comforted by the memories of how much love Peggy shared with everyone.
