Roselyn Frances Delehant was born on March 11, 1920 in Beatrice, Nebraska and died on January 17, 2013 in Dallas, TX. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Omaha where she graduated from St. John’s High School in 1937.
Roselyn entered Federal Civil Service in Nov 1941 at Fort Crook Army Depot and was the last employee when the Depot closed. She was the Budget Officer at the Nebraska Military District for several years before transferring to Fort Carson at Colorado Springs in 1954. She was promoted to Deputy Comptroller in 1957; the first woman to hold that position at an Army Installation. She developed two mechanized systems for financial and resource management control which were approved for Army wide implementation. She retired in December 1979.
Roselyn never married but enjoyed helping raise and educate her youngest sister and brother and maintaining a home with her parents in their later years.
She was most proud of her Irish Catholic Heritage. In retirement she loved to travel, tend her flower garden, cross stitch, root for the Denver Broncos, and offer her love and support to her nieces and nephews. She moved to Dallas in 2002 to be near family while suffering from Alzheimer’s.
Roselyn was preceded in death by her parents, Charles William Delehant and Blanche Henderson Delehant and brothers, Charles W Jr and T Michael Delehant.
Surviving are her sisters Esther Snogren of Carrollton, TX and Penny LaDue (Al) of Warner Robins, GA. Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 from 12:00-1:00 pm at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home with the Funeral Service beginning at 1:00 pm.
