Barbara Joyce Clasen

Barbara Joyce Clasen, 92, of Davenport, IA passed away peacefully Sunday, May 8, 2022 at the Good Samaritan Society. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 13, in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. She will be laid to rest in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials in her honor may be made to the King’s Harvest Animal Shelter. Online condolences and tributes may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com. Barbara was born June 22, 1929, the daughter of Arthur and Helma (Nuessie) Detmers in Davenport, IA. On September 11, 1954 she was united in marriage to Rex Clasen. They celebrated 60 years of marriage until his passing in 2014. She retired from Pitney Bowes after many years of service. Barbara was a strong-willed, independent woman who loved taking care of her family and always put them first. She enjoyed planting flowers and doing crafts. She also had a love for Lhasa Apso’s. Those left honoring her memory are her nephew, Glen Smithe; niece, Carol Timbrook; great-nieces, Kimberly Smithe, Leann Noack, and Pamela Haessler; great nephew Michael Haessler. She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Rex; sisters, Lillian Smithe and Jeanette Jorgensen; brother, Bud Detmers; and best friend, Ruthie Denekas. The family would like to thank the staff at Good Samaritan Society for their care and support.
