Carol J. VenHorst, 66, of Bettendorf, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at her home on Thursday, April 29, 2021. Memorial services will be held at Runge Mortuary in Davenport on Saturday, May 8 at 10:00 a.m. with visitation until 1:00 p.m. A celebration of life gathering will take place Saturday at Sunrise Golf Course starting at 2:00 p.m. with food provided.

Carol was born June 24, 1954, in Davenport, to Charles and Luella (Serk) Hutcheson. She married Roy VenHorst on August 16, 1999, at Duck Creek Park.

Carol is survived by her husband, Roy VenHorst; daughters, Shawn McElfresh (Lyle), of Davenport, IA, and Amie Quigley of Davenport, IA; her stepson, Brian VenHorst, of Milwaukee, WI; stepdaughter, Brooke Eastburn (Joe), of Bettendorf, IA; sisters, Sharon Stewart Hutcheson of New Liberty, IA, Nancy Miles (J.D.) of Abilene, TX, Tammy Anderson (Hershal) of Pleasant Valley, IA, Debbie Wendt (Dan), of Wisconsin Dells, WI; brothers, Dwight Buri, of Dumont, IA, Patrick Hutcheson, Bradley Hutcheson (Cheryl), of Alabama, and Tom Buri, of Davenport, IA; her many VenHorst brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law from across the country; as well as her 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Charlie, and sister, Sue Hamilton.

Carol was a strong, yet gentle woman who always put her family and friends first. She was an amazing lady, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, mentor and friend who enjoyed gardening, cooking, camping and was a very accomplished kayaker. My aunt was some I could talk to and was always there. She always made sure I was ok. Every time I called her I called her old lady and she would say you are a Brat but I would say ya but you love me and she would say yes to the moon and Back. I love you aunt Carol to the moon and Back
