A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 6, in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the mortuary. Darell was born July 20, 1949 to Fred and Edna (Free) Stanton in Ottumwa, IA. He was proud to be a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. On June 7, 1969, he married Linda Blomgren. They went on to enjoy 52 years of marriage. In 2002 he retired from Alcoa, after 30 years of service.
Darell was known to be a jokester. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing, traveling, camping, and fishing in his flat bottom boat. Darell liked watching old western movies and listening to old country music. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Darell is survived by his loving wife, Linda Stanton; children, Brinda Stanton-Malaski (John Malaski), Lesa Stanton, and Glenn Stanton; grandchildren: Nic (Stefani) Stanton, Bryce (Bethany) Stanton, Brandon (Ashley) Stanton, Alexandrea Stanton (Matt Rench), Chase Ridgway, Brooklyn Ridgway, and Ethan Stanton; 6 great grandchildren; and siblings, Donna James, Diana Davidson, and Sedney Eddy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Linda Ferns; and brother, Fred “Butch” Stanton.
