Harry L. Groves

Harry L. Groves, 87, of Bettendorf passed away Friday February 15, 2013 at Trinity Bettendorf Hospital. Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Wednesday February 20, 2013 at the Runge Mortuary chapel. Visitation will be held 4-7 pm Tuesday February 19, 2013 at Runge. Harry was born March 13, 1925 at St. Lukes Hospital in Davenport, IA, the son of Everett and Mabel (Pietscher) Groves. Harry was united in marriage to Katherine Frymoyer November 16, 1951 in Davenport. She preceded him in death February 17, 1998. Harry served in the US Navy in WWII on the USS Hyde. He saw action in numerous campaigns in the Pacific Theatre. He was very active in the Isaac Walton League and Moose Lodge. Harry is survived by: five daughters: Lynn (Ruel) Berger, Nancy Schoene, Carol (Terrence) Kilburg, Gina (Mike) McGinn, and Cindy Cornwell; two sisters Dorothy Andresen and Betty Spiess; 14 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother Richard Groves, and son-in-law Robert Schoene Jr.
