He was born son of William and Ellen (Conboy) Gluba on October 23, 1936. He served proudly in the U.S. Marines, 1955-1959. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Lillian E. Smith on August 20, 1960 in Davenport. He retired from Rock Island Arsenal after 35 years of dedicated service, working in tandem at Sears Roebuck.
He was a very kind man that had a deep love and respect for God. His granddaughters referred to him as “Mr. Wonderful.” Each time his wife told him she loved him, he always replied “I love you more.”
Those left to honor his memory are his loving wife of 60 years, Lillian Gluba; children, Marilyn Hankins of San Antonio, TX, Brenda (Stanley) Papendorf of Long Grove, IA, Patrick H.T. (Nanette) Gluba of Crestview, FL, David (Heather) Gluba of Davenport, IA, and James (April) Gluba of Wylie, TX; siblings, Bill Gluba of Davenport, IA, Mary Messmer of Bettendorf, IA, and Elaine Pullen of Rock Island, IL; 13 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Ellen Gluba, and son-in-law, Gary Hankins.
