Pamela Jane Hosking
November 14, 1935 – June 15, 2021
Pamela Jane “Pam” Hosking (Thompson), age 85, passed away June 15, 2021 in Davenport, WA, after a short illness. Pam was born November 14, 1935 in Limestone, ME, to Cecil and Julia Thompson. She grew up on the family’s potato farm, tending cows, driving truck and cooking for the field crew. She attended the University of Maine in Orono, where she went on a blind date and met her future husband, Robert Hosking. The couple married in 1957 after earning their degrees. She taught in Fayetville, NC, while Robert served in the Army. In 1959, they drove across the country to Clarkia, ID, where Robert worked for the U.S. Forest Service. After a transfer to St. Maries, son Tim was born in 1962. In 1963, they moved to Osburn, ID, where Pam taught junior high English and home economics in Wallace. Son Bob was added to the family in 1965. In 1971, the family moved to Republic, WA, where she served as a substitute teacher and school board member and lived until 1985. After living several years in Colville, Pam and her husband settled in Davenport in 1992. She was a devoted wife and mother and was known for her sewing skills, excellent cooking and love of gardening. She was a member of the Presbyterian church and spent many years playing the organ for services. Pam was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Sandra Cyr. She is survived by her husband of 63 years Robert Hosking, son Tim Hosking, his wife Sheina, son Bob Hosking, and his wife Sandy, grandchildren Kendra, Kylee and Carter Hosking, and great-grandchildren Colton and Addyson. A celebration of Life service will be held @ 1:00 PM, Friday June 18, 2021 at Reardan Presbyterian Church. A private family committal will take place at Mountain View Cemetery, Davenport, WA. Strate funeral home, Davenport, WA is in charge of the arrangements.
