Alfred J. Volk

VOLK, Alfred J. age 86 of Beavercreek, died suddenly on Wednesday, January 14, 2015. He was an Insurance agent and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) with New York Life Insurance Company for 53 years. He was an Army Veteran and a graduate of Chaminade High School class of 1947. Alfred was a choir member for Church of the Ascension for 50 years and lifetime member of the Dayton Liederkranz-Turner. He was proud of being with the Beavercreek Strummers and had been a member since 2003. He was preceded in death by his wife Sonja Volk. He is survived by his best friend Marjorie Cole, daughter Ingelein, granddaughter Carmen Hollingsworth, great-grandsons Grant and Ross, sisters Janice Kaiser and Dolores Broadstone, step-sons James and Gary Perkins, and numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Church of the Ascension, 2025 Woodman Dr. on January 22, 2015 at 11:30 am. Fr. Chris Worland celebrant. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME – BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd. at Grange Hall Rd. from 5pm – 7pm on Wednesday, January 21 as well as at the church on January 22 from 10:30 am until the time of Mass.
