BROCK, Bobby, age 81 of Franklin Township, passed away after a lengthy illness on Friday, April 13, 2018, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his father, Cloyd Brock, mother, Hazel Hoskins-Brock, and brothers, Lonnie and Carlos Brock. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Margie Tincher-Brock, daughter, Debra (Larry) Brock-Johansen, son, Robert (Kim) Brock, five grandchildren, three great grandchildren and sisters, Greta (Vick) Legg of Nashville, Tennessee and Betty Brock of Lake City, Florida, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Bobby is a US Navy Veteran who served aboard the USS Bennington aircraft carrier. He was a master carpenter and auto mechanic and enjoyed playing golf. While living in Florida during the 1960’s and 1970’s, he and his two brothers and sister had a bluegrass band, “The Brock’s”. Bobby played the upright bass and sang baritone. He also enjoyed playing the harmonica. In his younger years, he enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, and oil painting. Bobby Lee Brock was a modest man, quiet and observant in his ways. He was traditional in his approach to his life and in his relationships. Bobby was tough-minded with the kind of “stick to it” attitude that earned the respect of all who knew him. Bobby had a dry sense of humor and enjoyed a good joke. He was also known to tell quite a few of his own.

His parents were Cloyd and Hazel Hoskins Brock. Bobby was born in Hyden, Kentucky on September 18, 1936.
Bobby was raised with four siblings, two brothers, Lonnie and Carlos, and two sisters, Greta and Betty. Bobby was a self taught musician. He played bluegrass music with his brothers and sisters. He played the upright bass and sang baritone. He also played the harmonica.

Bobby married Margie Tincher on March 13, 1958. They were married for 60 years and had two children, one daughter, Debra Lee, and one son, Bobby Michael. They also had five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

Bobby is a Navy Veteran and served aboard the USS Bennington aircraft carrier from 1957-1959. He then served in the reserves from 1959-1963.

Bobby liked to experience things first-hand as well as learn about them. This trait carried over into his hobbies, where he was very methodical in how he organized his activities and categorized things. Bobby was a master carpenter and mechanic. There was nothing he couldn't build or fix. Bobby built both of his homes from the ground up, the first in the Suwannee Ranchettes in Lake City, Florida, and the second in Franklin Township, Ohio. Bobby was meticulous with both his truck and tractors, keeping them running and looking like new. Bobby enjoyed his private time. His favorite pursuits were golf, tinkering in his garage, hunting, boating, fishing, music, oil painting, and building bird houses. Bobby was content to enjoy his hobbies alone but was also willing to share his interests with others.

Bobby was never afraid to roll up his sleeves and dig right in. Politically, Bobby was a supporter of the Republican Party.

Bobby’s favorite pet was Travis, a white German Shepherd. They were best friends for 11 years. His family was rounded out by his dachshund Molly.

Bobby Lee Brock passed away on Friday, April 13, 2018 at 12:29 PM at Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties in Middletown, Ohio. Bobby fought a very long, exhaustive, and brave battle against end stage COPD and lung cancer. Bobby was a tough Kentucky boy and he never complained, even when he was very ill. Services were held at Tobias Funeral Home with Pastor Elmo Johnson officiating. Bobby was laid to rest on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Springboro Cemetry in Springboro, Ohio.
