Joan Walker Conte - July 9, 1943 - February 16, 2019 MY FIRST BEST FRIEND… "Mom was my primary parent, protector and inspiration. My early childhood was Heaven, thanks to her love, strength and great cooking! Mom was born in an intolerant time. Her aspiration to become a professional model was unjustly quashed because she was “different.” Today, she would have been a Superstar! Fortunately, my brothers and I had “Joanie” as our mother and I will be forever grateful for her fight to open the door of opportunity for her children, grandchildren and future generations to have better lives. I love you forever, Mom." — Robert V. Conte Joan is survived by her children, Robert, David and Anthony, and her grand-children, Victor, Daniel, Liliana, Anthony, Cameron, and Nicholas.

Some of my fondest memories of my Aunt Joan was when I was younger, she use to tell me bedtime stories. No matter how late or how tired she was, she always made time to tell me a bedtime story. Till this day I still cherish those memories and I’m forever thankful. Love you Aunt Joan!

When Robert and I were teenagers (circa 1984/1985), we would get together for an afternoon at his mother’s home to watch videos of our favorite band. I can still remember how Joan always prepared lunch for us. A very kind woman who deserves so much praise for raising the family on her own. God bless you, Joan Conte.
