Dear Affholter Family,(my 2nd family):
It's hard to find the words to summarize a HUGE life; all the grief that must be felt by you and so many others in losing him, as well as so much happiness and gratitude for having known him. Lloyd was a great influence on my life, personally. He was always kind and happy. Thank you, Lloyd and JoAnne, for taking me in as a teenager, and showing me kindness and love during a difficult time - setting an example that would have such an impact on my life. Also, thank you for continuing to be lifelong friends. It has been an honor to know Lloyd, and I miss him. You all have our sympathy for the grief and loss you're experiencing. He was the greatest!! Loved him so much.

Joanne and family - As we know, life is but a journey! As we travel down the roads of life, we meet many people along the way. We were so fortunate to have met you, Joanne, and Lloyd, and your wonderful family. There aren't enough words to describe the special memories that come to mind when you think of Lloyd. His zest and love for his family and friends should be an inspiration for all of us. He will be greatly missed.

Eulogy for Lloyd Affholter.
Tis the saddest of days. My very good friend Lloyd died on Memorial Day. How fitting fate is -- how VERY fitting. He will never let me forget him. Some friends in life you meet are golden, this guy was more than that. He was a JEWEL. He will forever bring a sparkle in my life when I think of him. He has earned the Paradise he justly deserves. He sits with the angels. How comforting for us who loved him can think that. How eternally wonderful for him----and what a wonderful eternity awaits.
I have but one regret --- I wish I had MET HIM 50 YEARS AGO.

To my Aunt Jo and all of my cousins, know that we hold you in our hearts at this time. Thank you for sharing these wonderful pictures as a gentle reminder of the man we celebrate. He always looked out for my mom (Nancy) and for that I am thankful. May you all feel the love that surrounds you. With love, Rick and Thomas

From Traverse City Michigan to our dear family. We love you and are with you in hearts and minds through this time. Uncle Lloyd, strong, respectful, loving, content, fun to be around. The considerate nature and nurturing relationship Aunt Jo and he had will be forever with our memories. It was a pleasure to see him in our children's lives and we will forever be touched. One most recent memory...on Good Harbor Beach off of Lake Mi. in Leland Mi. The bon fire, sand in our toes, sound of the waves, gentle breaze, good laughs, great joy. We love you Uncle Lloyd.
