Peter Anthony Marchione, son of the late Nicholas and Mary Marchione, peacefully passed away on October 24, 2020 at the age of 85 in Deerfield Beach, Florida. Born October 6th, 1935 in Jamaica, New York, he and his family moved to Deerfield Beach in 1968 where he lived for an incredible 52 years.

Pete leaves behind a loving wife of 65 years, Nancy Marchione, as well as 3 children, Nicholas, Rosemarie, and Vincent and 5 grandchildren, Alan Goldberg, Michael, Matthew, Peter Caden, and Macray Marchione. Peter is also survived by loving cousins, aunts, and uncles as well as an extended family in the USA and Italy.

Peter, 20, and Nancy, 19, married on October 23, 1955, residing in Long Island, NY. He started his career with PanAm World Airlines giving him the opportunity to visit Florida frequently. Seeing many opportunity doors open in Florida, Pete and his family moved to Deerfield Beach in 1968 where Pete capitalized on those moments.

Following his passion, Pete switched career paths and became a carpenter and construction contractor building many of the condos that stand tall on either side of A1A. A personal accomplishment for Pete and Nancy was building a Big Pine Key beach house. Establishing strong foundations is a skill of Pete’s since the beach house still stands today after many Florida hurricanes and the family solidified thousands of celebrations, vacations and memories in Big Pine Key. Ever the entrepreneur, Pete and Nancy also started a successful home renovation company called Delmar Decorating where Pete continued his love of construction and home renovations until his retirement.

During his 85 years of life, Pete’s passions were honoring our Lord, cooking, storytelling, and lending a hand to those in need. Pete was active at St. Ambrose church, the Catholic Men’s Club, Knights of Columbus, and Save Our Beach. Pete was known by many to be a kind and gentle man, ensuring all felt welcome. His Italian heritage brought him joy in sustaining the heart with food. His inherently excellent cooking skills had him regularly volunteering to prepare food for many. This led him to open two successful restaurants, Jimmy’s in the 1970’s and Sub Depot in the 1980’s.

Pete was always referred to as St. Francis of Assisi, the patron Saint of animals and nature. Throughout his 50+ years in Florida, Pete always had a major animal project in play. This included raising turtles, breeding canaries and parakeets in a massive aviary, as well as hatching and raising chickens. His favorite was the numerous large fish tanks in their Florida room that resides even today. We know that his passion for animals started young and is why, in his 20’s, he owned a fish and pet store in Long Island.

All of this passion was given to his 3 children as Pete encouraged Nick, Rose, and Vince to believe in themselves and act on their dreams. His entire family surrounded him when the Lord came to take him away. One of his final requests was fulfilled when he passed in his condo, overlooking the intercoastal and nature preserve. We know this made him happy as he left this world with a smile on his face telling all of us, “I am okay!”
