Charles "Joe" Johnson
September 13, 1932 – January 3, 2021
Charles Eugene Johnson, better known as “Joe”, transitioned to his heavenly home at the age of 88 on January 3, 2021 at his Oklahoma City home.
Joe was born on September 13, 1932 in Steele, Arkansas to Byrd Monroe Johnson and Minnie Pearl (Wiles) Johnson. In 1951, Joe began his military career in the U.S. Army and continued to serve God and His country for 21 years. He held many positions, earned multiple certificates and awards, and fought in the Korean War, yet he remained humble.
In May 1954, he met the love of his life Evelyn Langford, whom he married on September 1, 1954 and shared 66 wonderful years together. Although gardening, cooking, and fishing were his favorite hobbies, God and family were his top priority. A man of few words, with a lot of personality, showed his love and approval by his actions.
Joe was preceded in death by parents, Byrd and Minnie Johnson; siblings, James, El Mina, Phillip, Garland, Bill, Guy, Nina, Sue, and Van Lee; son, Gene; great-grandchildren, Skylar, Eli, and Daniel; and great-great-grandchild, Marieah.
Surviving family include wife, Evelyn; daughter-in-law, Sharon; grandchildren, Malissa, Anna, Daniel, Jeff, and Maggie; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and multiple other family members.
