James Robert Genzler, 59, of Midwest City, OK, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, and cousin passed peacefully from a long battle of prostate cancer on Monday, 5 Oct 2020 in Midwest City, OK. James “Pappy” was born 19 Mar 1961 in Huron, SD to Robert Allen and Joyce Marie (Sands) Genzler.
James was raised in South Dakota on his parent's farm and went to grade school in Tulare South Dakota. He moved to Oklahoma in 1972 and attended Carl Albert. He later began working at Tinker AFB as a Quality Inspector and retired 33 years later. Not many know this, but James taught Sunday School for a short time during his youth. Family was the most important thing to James. He loved children, was quick to tease them and teach them silly things to tease their parents. Pappy loved taking long trips on his motorcycle with cousin George and his beloved wife Rochelle “Nana.” Wherever James was, Nana was. James enjoying skiing and four wheeling with his daughter Elizabeth, hunting with sister Jane, teaching his son Calvin to shoot and he never missed a track meet for his daughter Brittany. His love for family and friends will make him greatly missed by all who knew him.
James is survived by his wife Rochelle (Coulter) Genzler “Nana,” Daughters: Elizabeth and husband Matt Achemire, Brittany and husband James Hall. Son: Calvin Coulter and wife Janiece. Sisters: Grace Major, Donna Genzler, Jane and her husband Gary Miron, and Lynn Genzler. Grandchildren: Alex, Destini, Annessa, Brayden, Kloey and Corey. A host of nieces, nephews, great aunts and cousins.
James is preceded in death by his mother and father, Robert and Joyce Genzler. Brothers Ray, Johnny, and Danny. Grandpa and Grandma: Alvin and Berta Genzler, and Ulysses and Etta Sands. Nieces and Nephews: Karissa, Brooke, and Brint. Great Nephew: Damian Major. Uncles: Glenn G., George, Ted, Glenn W. Aunts: Lily Ward
Pastor David Young will officiate the ceremony at Sunny Lane Funeral Home in Midwest City on Friday, October 9, 2020 @ 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Blue Branch Cemetery following.
