Thomas (Tom) McLuckie, Major USAF (Ret) CPA, a resident of Oklahoma since 1979, was called home on July 28th, 2021. He was the only child of the late Eric McLuckie of Kilsythe, Scotland and San Jose, California and Catherine P. McLuckie of New Rochelle, New York. Tom was born in New Rochelle on September 19, 1948, where he spent his childhood and attended parochial schools in that community. In 1966, he began his notable education at Cathedral College High School in Manhattan. In 1970 Tom graduated from Fordham University with a bachelor’s degree in Economics and he would later obtain his Master of Systems Management from the University of Southern California. It was at this time he began his incredible journey serving his country with the United States Airforce. Tom was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in June 1970 thru the Air Force ROTC program and was called to active duty on August 12, 1970. His overseas assignments included the Republic of Korea, the United Kingdom and Italy. Stateside, he served in Michigan, North Carolina, Florida and landed in Oklahoma where he decided to settle down. He continued to serve his country until he retired from active duty on September 1, 1990 from the 552nd Airborne Warning and Control Wing (AWACS) with over 2800 hours in the E-3 aircraft. After retiring from the military Mr. McLuckie accepted a position as an accountant with the Oklahoma Department of Corrections and 1994 he received his Certified Public Accountant Designation. He was later promoted to the position of Administrator of Internal Audits, which was the position he held until his retirement in 2010. Mr. McLuckie is survived by his wife Sue, daughter Marina and her husband Les Williams of Oklahoma City, Grandson Leslie (Leftenant) Thomas Williams, Granddaughter Charlotte Sue Williams, stepson and daughter-in-law Mike and Cathy Snapp of Del City and their daughter Lauren granddaughter paisley and grandson Cylis, Stepson Larry Snappand his sons, Lucas and Jaxson. He is also survived by his paternal aunt Jean Bankier of Muckhart, Scotland as well as many cousins back East. In addition to his parents Thomas was proceeded in death by his paternal grandparents Alexander and Beatrice (nee McNaughton) McLuckie of Kylsithe and maternal grandparents John and Bridgette (nee Moran) Petterson of Holland, Ireland and New Rochelle. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Church in Del City on Wednesday August 4th, 2021 with interment at Sunny Lane Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests a memorial donation be made to the St. Paul Memorial Fund or the Infant Crisis Center.
