DELCAMBRE – A Memorial Gathering celebrating the life of James Kelly Renard will be held Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Evangeline Funeral Home of Delcambre from 9:00 am until 8:00 pm.

James passed away after a long battle with cancer on Saturday, March 03, 2018 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center with his family by his side.

James, better known as Kelly, was born in Delcambre on February 15, 1960 to the late Noah “Rover” and June Kellems Renard. Kelly enjoyed the simple life of country living. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and crabbing with his two children. Kelly had many special memories of their times fishing in Bayou Tigre. He could often be found spending time on his boat on the Bayou with a line in the water waiting on that BIG ONE. Any day spent outside with family and friends doing what he enjoyed was a good day. A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Kelly will be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Bonnie Foster Renard of Delcambre; children, Timothy James Renard of Delcambre and Lindsey Anne Renard and husband Tracy Davidson both of Abbeville; siblings, Lanny “Red” Renard and wife Adley of Delcambre and Sydney Gannett and husband Thomas of Maryland; and granddaughter, Jemma Kelli Davidson.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Noah “Rover” and June Kellems Renard. Honorary pallbearers will be Timothy Renard, Lanny “Red” Renard, Tracy Davidson, and Richard Frederick.

I will miss, our conversations. The laughs....so many laughs. The serious talks we had, about life....and our roles in it. I will miss that South Louisiana accent of yours. An accent that could make even the most tiring day disappear....because a FRIEND, was near. The talks we had about fishing, and work. Hunting, and camping. Cooking, and family. God how I will miss these. Tomorrow....family and friends, will gather in hallowed memory of you. I can't be there. Life, for me, goes on. But I want you to know, that I treasured my time with you, as I treasured you, as a wonderful friend, and part of my family. Shrimping will come and go here. As will crabbing. But where you are tonight, there are fair winds, and following seas. The nets are always full of shrimp, the traps filled with crabs, and the BIG ONE, is on every hook on your line. There is something always cooking in the POT, and the boat is always ready to go. I loved you my friend. From the very depths of my soul. A part of me, is gone tonight also. The load will be a little heavier....the steps, a little harder to take. But I will carry the load. And I will make the steps. For each step, brings us closer to the day, that we can see our loved ones, and friends who have gone before. I will see you again. Be sure of that. And on that day, when we meet again, where pain, worry, and sorrow can never touch us. Where sickness and strife shall never be again, I await the morning when at last, two old friends, can take the best shrimping trip, ever known to them. Rest in Peace, my BELOVED FRIEND.

Dedicated to and in Honor of, James Kelly Renard.
My buddy, my pal, my brother, my FRIEND.

Hank andNorma Wiley.

I’m so sorry for his family and loved ones.
I started on lift boats back Global Industries December 1996, worked 4-6 months and ended up on Captain Kelly’s hitch on the WAHOO. Kelly taught and showed me a lot of the many things you needed to know coming up from deckhand. I chose to be a mechanic. Thanks in part to things Kelly taught me.
From (Global Industries, Hercules Liftboats, LLC., Trinity Liftboats).
Kelly’s first words when I would approach him was;
(The shrimp are running in the bay!) or
(I’m about to go run my trout lines!)
RIP my friend and GOD BLESS YOU ✝️🙏🏼
& GOD BLESS his family!🙏🏼✝️
