On 1 June 1941, she married Michael Zorn in Schoenborn. When the war came,Elisabeth and her family were forced to flee their home and leave everything they could not carry in a suitcase behind. In 1956, she emigrated to the United States from Schussenried, Germany with Michael and their three sons: Herbert, born in Schoenborn, Yugoslavia; Peter, born in Voecklabruck, Austria; and Frank, born in Schussenried, Germany. Michael and Elizabeth (she changed the spelling of her first name when she came to the U.S.) originally brought their family to Chicago, but in 1961, they settled in Morton Grove, Illinois, with their four sons – Michael, their fourth son, was born in Chicago, Illinois.
Elizabeth passed away quietly after living independently until 10 days before her death at the age of 95. She was preceded in death by her much beloved husband of 75 years, Michael, and her son, Frank. She is survived by three sons, fourteen grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren.
