VanTassel, Janet Marie passed away on October 6, 2019 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. She was a daughter of the late Osborne and Jennie (Wagner) Handspiker.

Janet was a volunteer at the Bethany Bin, she also volunteered selling tickets at Wharf Rat Rally and other organizations and charity events. Janet enjoyed country music, gardening, reading and sewing, her and her husband Doug made quilts together. Janet is survived by daughter, Michele (Darryl) and their children Jesse and Amber; son, Douglas (Melyssa) and their children, Ashley and Ryan; sisters Juanita Doucette, Judith MacDonald, Juliette (Neil) VanTassel; brothers, Jim (Angie) Handspiker, Jeff (Debbie) Handspiker as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Janet was predeceased by her husband Douglas Ronald; son, Joseph Steven and brother, Joe.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Jayne’s Funeral Home, Digby where the funeral service for Janet will be 2pm on October 12, 2019, Rev. Alex Constable presiding with burial in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Digby.

Janet trained me when I first started at the Bethany bin. Between her and Harold they new almost every name of everybody who lived in and around digby and who that person was related to. She was a great wealth of info and will be missed. Rest in piece Janet
