Rilla Marie Barr

Rilla Marie Barr - Born in Danvers on May, 12 1934, daughter of the late Russell and Amy (Mullen) Lewis. Married to her loving husband Glendon for 65 years. Rilla Passed away peacefully in Digby General Hospital on November 18, 2017 at Age 83. Rilla enjoyed quilting, knitting, crafts, traveling and volunteering to help others. After becoming a Christian at 14 years of age, she was a proud member of Southville Church of Christ, taught Sunday school and VBS for 40 years, and was a founding member of the Meeting House Society. Rilla proudly served as president of DSR Ladies Auxiliary for 34 years, worked with Womens Missionary Society for 45 years, volunteered at Villa Acadian for 14 years, and was the president there for four years. Rilla is survived by husband, Glendon; children, Ronald (Peggy), Eric (Darlene), Max (Beverly), Cathy (Timothy), Hollie (Michael), Merle (Crystal); 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and foster child, Pat Taylor. Surviving foster siblings are: Helena Winchester, Rosalie Winchester, Beverly LeBlanc, Floyd Gale. Besides her parents she was predeceased by foster brothers, R. Davis, Ronnie O’Neal and Calvin O’Neal. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Jayne’s Funeral Home in Weymouth. Visitation to be held Tuesday, November 21st in Southville Church of Christ 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Service to be held in Southville Church of Christ on Wednesday November 22nd at 2 p.m. Interment in Southville Church of Christ Cemetery.
