Evelyn Marie Amedee Zeringue of Donaldsonville was reunited in heaven with her soul mate and beloved husband, Leon, and daughter Camille on the evening of June 20, 2022, sixty-two days after celebrating her 100th birthday. She was the last survivor of the thirteen children of Ambrose and Floresca Waguespack Amedee of St.James. Also preceding her in death were her granddaughter, Renee Clare Brou and sons-in-law Jeffery Robert Salins and Paul Charles Brou. She is survived by daughters Barbara Zeringue Brou, Elaine Zeringue Abadie (Jimmy) and Karen Zeringue LeBlanc (Mike), sons Leon Zeringue, Jr. (Sue) and John Michael Zeringue (Anita), 19 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren and her beloved spiritual mentor and protector, Father Paul Yi. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered by all for her life of faith and devotion to God and her family. Her joy has been living her faith, loving her family, and sharing and continuing family traditions such as the holiday tradition of baking tea cakes and fruitcakes with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. These continue in her family today.
The family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to those caregivers at Landmark South in Baton Rouge. They treated her like a family member.
As a testament to her faith there has been one of her children, grandchildren, and/or great grandchildren enrolled in Ascension Catholic School continuously since 1947 to the present day. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to Ascension Catholic School in Donaldsonville, LA.
Visitation will be at Ascension Of Our Lord Catholic Church in Donaldsonville, LA from 9-11 Saturday, June 25, with the funeral mass at 11:00, and burial immediately following at the Ascension Church Cemetery and Mausoleum.
